Services
NMSU BIP inspects a mutually designated inventory of bridges. The structure inventory includes those on the Interstate Highway System plus steel structures on New Mexico and U.S. designated highways. NMSU BIP performs the field inspections and prepare the inventory documentation per the NBIS plus collect the data required for the NMDOT Bridge Management System (BMS) per the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Element Inspection. Higher level inspections with NDE and UAV techniques are also available.
One of the most important goals of this proposal is to train and prepare undergraduate students at NMSU to enhance the visibility and recruiting efforts of the NMDOT. We propose to provide four full-time engineering co-op positions throughout the year to attract outstanding undergraduate students to participate.
